The Licking County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information on a scam that robbed an elderly woman out of several thousand dollars.
Newark Police report on the morning of November 9, an 88-year-old Newark woman made a withdrawal from a bank on N.2nd St. in downtown Newark and then went home.
Police say a male suspect called the woman at home later that day, identified himself as a detective and asked her to return to the bank and make a withdrawal of $6,500 and meet him with the money as part of an investigation.
The woman made the withdrawal and met the man on the downtown square and gave him the money.
The suspect called the woman later that day and told her she needed to make another withdrawal of $4,800 and meet him at the Walgreens in Heath.
Police say the woman did as she was told but this time took her son with her and the suspect never showed.
The suspect is described as a white male in his early 50's with dark hair, 5'10" to 6' tall and around 200 pounds. He called himself "Mr. Myer"
