The John McIntire Library in Zanesville is beginning to see more activity now that winter has arrived.
Public Relations Manager Blair Tom said with the frigid weather, many people are more inclined to stay indoors and do familiy activities like visiting the library.
"We see an increase in reading and books being checked out, some for practical purposes holiday decorating, cook books, making crafts for gifts," he said.
Tom said they are always thinking of new programs and intiatives to attract community members year round, like hosting art galleries and exhibits. With the popularity of online resources, he said there is a misconception that people don't use the library anymore, which he said is just not true.
"There's so much more information, that's our product, so we have more product than we have ever had, and we help people manage, organize and access that," he noted.
A winter reading plan for adults will be offered starting January 10th, each participant will receive a free book after completing the program.
