Zanesville High School now has something other than their new building to brag about.
A full colored digital wireless sign is now up and running in front of the building. The 8x10 foot sign is meant to showcase academic achievements, sporting events and every day happenings at the building.
"We think that it will be effective not only for those inside our schools but for those we bring in from outside for the events that we host, said Zanesville High School Mark Ulbrich. "We can put welcome signs when we host playoff games, or basketball games and choir events. We can do a lot of things to welcome outside communities to Zanesville as well."
Ulbrich said that since the sign is so bright there also had to be stipulations on it's use.
"We worked out a deal with the city," explained the principal. "We're really appreciative of the community there to grant us access to have a sign that big. I think the sign will only run until 10 o'clock at night once it's fully operational. There are some guidelines and stipulations so it could meet code."
Right now Kessler is running the sign while administrators become familiar with the software. Officials said after winter break they should running the sign on their own.
