The Salvation Army wants to thank the community for their generosity this holiday season.
Office Assistant Mindy McCloy says The Salvation Army was able to service 1800 children, providing 7200 gifts. McCloy says before Christmas, donations were down so they didn't know how they were going to fill their annual Christmas baskets. But with the community's help, they were able to fill all 2300 baskets.
"We did put a plea out to the community and they came through. They donated and donated and gave and gave and we were able to fill everyone of those baskets so what a blessing that has been," said McCloy.
McCloy says although donations keep coming in, The Salvation Army's kettle donations have been down this year by 5,000 dollars. She says each donation is a blessing for those in need.
"The Salvation Army runs off of the donations from the community. We help service a lot of people that are in need. A lot of people that come through and the different needs that they have. It blesses a lot of people and it gives hope to a lot of families and children in the community," said McCloy.
