The annual Super Tax Prep Saturday in Zanesville will take place this weekend to kickoff tax season.
Trained counselors will assist clients in e-filing simple federal and state tax returns free of charge through the first week of April. Clinics are for individuals and couples with combined incomes below 60,000 dollars who have simple returns to file. Financial Stability Coordinator Amy Davis reminds clients what to bring when they go to their appointments.
"When you go to have your taxes filed, you need birth dates, social security numbers, make sure you have all your important W-2's. We can't do returns without a W-2," said Davis.
Davis says they had up to fifty clients in just one morning in the past, and this year, they currently have forty individuals scheduled for Saturday's event at the Muskingum County Opportunity Center. Davis says the amount of counselors who participate shows the community's dedication.
"This is all volunteer driven. We have volunteers who give hundreds of hours every season to help clients sit down and input their information so we have a very generous community with a lot of volunteers who spend a lot of time doing this," said Davis.
