This spring work will begin on the Moxadarla Road bridge.
During an inspection last year the Muskingum County Engineers Office discovered the structures floor beams were in bad shape.
"It's really cost prohibitive to come in and repair those beams," explained Engineer Doug Davis. "We'd have to drive materials into the stream in order to suspend the bridge."
While the engineer's office has discussed realigning the structure it would have added another $million to a project that's estimated to cost at least $600,000.
"They people that use that bridge are pretty much local residents and being that they're local residents they know the demographics of the area, the geography of the area, they know how to get around when water is high or not high," said Davis.
The project is being funding through federal funds and through the Transportation Improvement District's Appalachian money. Davis said the project is currently out to bid.
