With the chance for heavy rainfall in our area, crews at the Dillon Dam are beginning to prepare.
Project Manager Clifton Kilpatrick said they try to anticipate for situations like this, so they can prevent potential flooding.
"To see what's happening, what's coming in and what possibilities are going to happen down stream," said Kilpatrick.
Kilpatrick said there are a number of factors to consider when they plan, including ground saturation and where larger amounts of water may be coming in from.
"What we've been doing is definitely drawing the lake down to as low as possible place that we can within ranks and then watching the monitors above us and below us and see what's coming in."
He advises residents near creeks and brooks to be cautious of the water levels because they can change very quickly.
