Gambling for a cause, that's what Saturday at Knights of Columbus was about as the Relay for Life Team's Wish Upon a Cure hosts casino night.
Coordinator Bonnie Burns says it was a fun filled evening with a live auction, Chinese auction, cocktails and of course gambling. They pre sold 150 tickets. Games include black jack and 5 card draw poker. Having an event like this is something that remains close to Burns' heart.
"I am a 15 year survivor and I work with people everyday who are living with or who have survived cancer and I know the much needed resources," said Bonnie Burns.
She says being involved with Relay for Life is a way to raise awareness about cancer and how many people it effects. Saturday night she plans to raise not only awareness , but also funds. Even Kevin Martin stopped by to donate a jersey. He represents the community's willingness to help find a cure.
"With all of the community being touched with or surviving cancer it is important," tells Burns.
Burns mother is also a survivor so she knows first hand there is hope and invites the community to go to casino night. The event lasted until midnight at the Knights of Columbus in Zanesville
