An area school is being recognized for its contributions to the community.
The Muskingum County Commissioners presented a proclamation to Starlight School in Zanesville Monday morning, as a part of developmental disabilities awareness month.
"We really appreciate the support of our county commissioners, we are a county agency and that's very important to us," said Administrative Services Director Cathy Smith.
Starlight offers an early intervention, pre-school, and school age programs for people with special needs. Smith said everyone should be treated equally despite their differences.
"They enjoy working, making money, being successful, they are just like you and I are, they enjoy the same things, they enjoy having fun and getting that paycheck," said Smith.
