There is a new deputy director at District 5 of the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Joe Rutherford introduced himself to the county commissioners Monday morning and briefed them on new projects for 2011.
"We should have great relationship with elected local officials and elected public officials at all levels and since I am the new person here and as a sign of respect and curtosy I try to stop out at each county," he said.
During the meeting Rutherford discussed how the propossed budget will not affect ODOT or the 43 projects they have planned for 2011.
"ODOT is primarily funded by the fuel tax. So, every time you put a gallon of gas or diesel fuel in your vehicle .40 cents of that goes into ODOT construction and operations budget so the recent bill put forward by the governor doesn't really affect ODOT," he said.
People not traveling this summer though, could affect the budget. For now, it is stable.
