Last week, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced that he is proposing a new legislation for the oversight of unregulated gambling games.
The proposal will address electronic games that look like slot machines, which DeWine said can mislead players and also cause confusion for law enforcement.
"What we need is a state law which gives local law enforcement, the juice, the tools to go after them, and that's what we're going to do," he said.
DeWine said this will keep those businesses from taking advantage of consumers. He said this proposed law is strictly for skill-based games, sweepstakes, and internet cafes.
"This is not keeping anybody from going to casino, it's not stopping anybody from gambling at home, with a friendly poker game, it's not stopping anybody from going to the race tracks," said the attorney general.
The proposal would also give the Ohio Control Commission the power to oversee and enforce regulations for those kinds of electronic games.
