The City of Zanesville Water Department is currently working to repair ten-inch water main that broke Wednesday morning at Hall Avenue and Malinda Street.
The break to a 10 inch line took place sometime between 6:00-6:30 and has closed Hall Avenue from Underwood to Gattrell Street. Water Department Superintendent Paul Mills said that the break should take two-three hours to repair.
"I'm glad it's the 10 inch instead of the 20 inch valve," said Mills. "A couple years ago we replaced our two 20 inch where we were shut down for awhile. It helped the situation a lot. We can get a quick shut down now, so that's helped tremendously."
The city has also stopped pumping water from the water plant but all the levels at the reservoirs remain steady so ares in the downtown should not lose service. Low water pressure could be seen on Lewis Drive, Putnam Avenue and the south end of town. You can still access the post office and stockyard by using Underwood.
