A Zanesville woman has died following a two-vehicle crash on Saturday.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. on U.S. 40 just east of mile post 9 in Falls Township of Muskingum County.
According to Lieutenant Steven Rine with the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Darnell Harris of Columbus driving a burgandy Pontiac Grand Prix, was traveling westbound on U.S. 40 when he attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Interstate 70. He pulled into the path of 40-year-old Crystal Luburgh of Hopewell who was driving eastbound on U.S. 40.
Harris' passenger, 22-year-old Koeta Pettiford of Zanesville, died as a result of her injuries while being transported by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Harris and Luburgh were both taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital for their injuries and were later released.
Luburgh was wearing her seatbelt; usage by Harris and Pettiford is still being investigated.
Toxicology test samples were taken from the drivers and results are pending at this time.
