With the interstate right in our backyard, a disastrous accident could happen at any time.
To ensure that law enforcement agencies are prepared, a multi-county table top exercise was held Saturday morning at the Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency's Office.
"In a normal situation they wouldn't be sitting in a room together, they would be sitting in their offices, their trucks, and their cruisers, so it gives us a chance to talk face to face about how we would actually communicate with them in the case of an incident," said Muskingum County EMA Director Bo Keck.
Evaluators were on site to review how the different agencies would handle a mock-scenario involving a serious accident between three tankers carrying chemicals at a truck stop in Caldwell.
"It's part of the mandatory LEPC exercise for Noble County and it was their drill as to what to do and what type of incident and what type of chemical and again up here were just playing on that," said Keck.
Three main areas were reviewed including initial notification, resource management, and communications.
