One local organization is helping families who are facing financial hardships.
United Way 211 Call Center of Muskingum, Morgan and Perry Counties is continuing to offer the program, "Financial Stability Partnership." It will not only provide assistance for families who are struggling to pay their bills, but will soon be able to assign a mentor who can offer advice on how to create a monthly budget. The two programs will work together to help area residents.
"I think it's a really exciting program because then you're not just saying here's some money to help you this time, you're giving them the tools to help improve that for next time so that you're prepared for an emergency," said Administrator Audrey Foster.
Foster said the 211 Call Center provides a number of resources to the public and it has a good working relationship with many area agencies keep information updated.
"You find out from other organizations they may have started that but were unable to finance it and keep it going so that's a big plus for us," said Foster.
Just in time for Easter, Honey Baked Ham in Zanesville will donate $5 of each ham sold to United Way from Monday until Saturday. An order form must be filled out upon purchase and are available at the store, United Way, or by visiting www.unitedwayofmpm.org
