Business Expo

Thursday, area businesses met with students who may soon be their employees.

Mid-East Career and Technology Center hosted it's 3rd annual Business Expo. Student Placement Coordinator Shannon Kenily says various employers from around southeast Ohio came to give advice to students about pursuing their various career fields.

"When you're 17 and 18 years old, you feel a little intimidated maybe when your speaking with employers when your trying to seek employment and it just gives our students an opportunity to see what it's like to work in that particular field they are being trained for here at Mid-East," said Kenily.

Co-coordinator of the expo Janice Mcfarren says that with graduation coming up, the Expo benefits many seniors who will be applying for jobs for the very first time.

"For them to have an opportunity to meet with local employers and ask them 1 on 1 what is it you really look for? How can I sell myself as a young person just graduating from high school with literally probably not very much experience," said Mcfarren.

Different seminars were set up across Mid-East's campus for various career paths. Mid -East does this event for it's seniors once every spring near graduation.
