Zane Grey was an American author best known for his novels. He was born in Zanesville and died in 1939. The public was welcomed to tour the museum free of charge and learn more about the local icon.
"This is really important for families and the youth to get involved and understand better the author Zane Grey, we have a rich heritage here in Zanesville and many people have over the years have read his books, he wrote over 80 books," said Education Director Joanne Duncan.
Duncan said the day's activities embodied his spirit and great love for the outdoors.
"We tried to incorporate all sorts of things that he enjoyed such as baseball, we had some fishing things going on, he was a very very avid fisherman, and some western campfire cooking and things like that just lots of activities for the kids," said Manager Katherine Miller.
