The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office updated two domestic dispute cases from last week on Monday.
The first took place on April 25th at 1530 Richvale Road in Muskingum Township. Sheriff Matt Lutz says deputies originally went over to the residence to serve a warrant to 60-year-old John Allen, but upon arrival discovered that he was arguing with his wife.
He ended up locking her out of the home and barricading himself inside. The Special Response Team was eventually brought in after authorities heard what sounded like gun shots. Allen finally surrendered after two hours of negotiating.
"What were looking to get is an F3 weapon under a disability and also an F5 obstruction of justice and he's been locked up since that night awaiting these charges," said the Sheriff.
The second incident happened on April 27th at 3900 Hemmers Lane in Wayne Township near State Route 146 east. Sheriff Lutz said 43-year-old David Gibbs shot his step-sister 35-year-old Tonya McDonald in the head during an argument.
"She was released from the hospital shortly after her treatment up there and it appears that the bullet just barely grazed her head so we got very fortunate with that," he said.
They are looking to charge Gibbs with an F2 felonious assault with a gun specification and possibly an F1 attempted murder. The Prosecutor's Office is planning to indict both suspects. They are currently being held in the Muskingum County Jail.
