Walk for Cystic Fibrosis

Local residents area raising money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis.

Zanesville's Great Strides Walk was held on Saturday at Zane Landing Park. Teams have been raising money for the past few months to donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

"My niece was diagnosed four years ago with Cystic Fibrosis, she's now 13 years old, so it's personal, we want to find a cure," said Amy Lavy.

"I actually know a few people with CF and that really inspired me to get involved with the foundation and I'm working here full time now," Coordinator Megan O'Brien.

Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited disease that affects the lungs and digestive system and currently has no cure.

"We are getting closer to a cure, there's about 30,000 people in the US who are affected by CS and 70,000 worldwide and if we could cure that for people it would just be incredible," said O'Brien.

Over $40,000 was raised last year. For more information, you can visit www.cff.org
