Football Camp

This summer area kids interested in football will get a chance to learn from local coaches.

The "Y" is hosting its first Muskingum County Football Camp. It's a three day event for youth entering 3rd-7th grades. Coaches from Philo, West Muskingum and Zanesville will be the camp instructors.

"I think it's very important the kids get a chance to meet the coaches and it also gives the coaches an opportunity to see kids and really emphasize the fundamentals of football and their philosophies," said Y Executive Director Craig Miracle. "It allows the kids to get to know kids from other schools."

The camp is limited to the first 300 children and participants will receive lunch and awards each day along with a camp t-shirt.

"I think the main values they'll take away from this is some structure," said Miracle. "It's a fun filled activity. The people that are volunteering are concerned about you and want you to improve and your skill set to get better and better."

The camp is $75.00 and will be held at Ohio University Zanesville-Zane State college's athletic fields June 21-23. Registration forms can be picked up at Philo, West Muskingum and Zanesville schools, at OUZ's Littick Hall or at the Y. The registration deadline is June 1st.
