The resurfacing of Maple Avenue is set to take place August first.
The work, which is being done by ODOT, will effect Maple from Adair Avenue to Fairview Road. While the work may cause a headache for drivers, District 5 Deputy Director, Joe Rutherford, says it will be a vast improvement.
"There's no question that the work will affect the time it takes for a motorist to get up and down Maple Avenue." said Rutherford. "But the contractors we have on board these days in this area are very experienced in working in an urban area."
Rutherford says Maple, which is well known for its high number of accidents, should become much safer once work is complete.
"The new asphalt pavement should cut down on a lot of the rear end collision." he said. "New pavement has a lot better skid resistance than the older pavement that's out there "
The estimated completion date for the project is October 31st. During the repaving a minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction.
