Finding out a loved one being diagnosed with a devastating illness can be very hard, but imagine a baby. For one local family, it's a reality and they need your help.
5-month-old Graham Sowers was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a very common cancer among children, at just six weeks old. A 5K run and mile walk benefit will be held this Saturday at the Longaberger Homestead to raise money for Graham and his family.
"We have had wonderful community support. We've had numerous businesses for sponsors, donations, for food, just great community support, which time in time again, this community just never ceases to amaze me when something like this goes on, they just all pull through," said Megan Mortimer, Event Coordinator.
Mortimer, a good friend of the Sowers family, came up with the idea one night while having dinner with a few friends.
"Just put our thoughts together, what can we do to help? They are a young family, there's lots of medical bills, and so we came up with this idea and kind of ran with it," said Mortimer.
Registration is still open for the 5K run/walk. For more information on how to register or donate, you can visit their web site at www.givingtograham.com
