A recent allocation letter reveals how much Muskingum County will have to offer their surrounding communities.
Friday afternoon, County Commissioners received notification that they will acquire $216,000 for the 2011 Community Development Program Grant. Commissioners met Monday morning with, Community Development Coordinator, Sheila Samson, to decide how to delegate the money.
"Just hoping to award these applicants that we discussed," said Samson. "And we will finish the application for the State of Ohio, that is due July 25th. "
Those wishing to receive a grant were originally asked to submit their application by April 1st. Due to more interest, the County Commissioners extended the deadline...But a public hearing for that extension was never held. Samson said, with out the public hearing, they will have to turn some applicants away.
"We are just moving forward with applications that we had received by the first deadline," said Samson.
