Muskingum County Commissioners will present an alternative plan to Zanesville City Council regarding building inspections.
Commissioners hope to sway City Council to reconsider an agreement that the Licking County Building Department will handle commercial building inspections. Services would be less expensive, but Commissioner Brian Hill said, discontinuing the work with Mid-East Ohio Building Department in Zanesville would be more of a headache.
"Right now we've got Mid East which is handling the county and the city," said Hill. "It will be another stop for developers that are working in the county and the city, they will have to go to city and the county to get things resolved on various projects."
All three commissioners plan to attend tonights City Council meeting to demonstrate their commitment to the county and their willingness to work with the city.
"We're hoping to offer them another alternative that will benefit the city and the county," said Hill "And show them we're willing to work together to try and help the community grow and not hinder development."
The Legislation has been delayed the past two Council Meetings and will go up for third and final reading on Monday.
