The uniqueness of Muskingum County can be seen every First Friday of each month when local artists are introduced to the community.
This months First Friday Art Walk will feature the Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project, more commonly known as Z.A.A.P. Z.A.A.P has been apart of the Zanesville community for more than 17 years, providing a gallery for local artists without their own studio, bringing together different artists, styles and creativity.
"There is such a diversity in what we have here," said Z.A.A.P Board Members, Tori Alexander & Crystal Fuller. "So we bring in a lot more people , a lot more diversity than some of the other galleries in town."
The gallery includes art work from their 80 members, including oil paintings, pastels, water colors and sculptures. Most pieces will be for sale but members say the best part of the art walk is having the opportunity to speak with the artist.
"And when you can talk to the artists about what they are doing they can explain such different unique things about what they are doing, that you may never have seen and why it is important to them," said Alexander and Fuller.
The First Friday Art Walk will take place downtown this Friday from 5 to 8:00. The event is free and transportation between studios will be provided.
