Fourth of July liquor sales may have been the highest in years for one local store.
Winerack owner in Zanesville, Mike Alfman, said he hasn't had a chance to look at the numbers yet, but predicts sales will be the highest he has seen in the past ten to fifteen years. The nice weather could be one factor but Alfman contributes the spike to the holiday falling on a Monday.
"So people are celebrating on Saturday and Sunday having that license on Sunday really made it busy," said Alfman.
In addition to alcohol, sales in the meat department beefed up. Alfman said, they were the highest he has seen this summer. He said, the holiday isn't only the best time for sales to profit, but for employees too.
"Well it's fun being here on the holiday you get to see a lot of people that are in a great mood," explained Alfman. "And when they come in they're happy and getting ready to see their families and have their cookouts and have their parties"
Top items included flavored vodka, Absolute Citron, and summer mixers such as lemonade, cranberry juice and margarita mix. Remember to always drink responsibly and don't drink and drive.
