Governor Kasich announced the JobsOhio Board of Directors Monday, the group given the task to bring jobs to the state and revive Ohio's economy.
JobsOhio will be funded by revenue from wholesale distribution from the Ohio Department of Commerce. Department of Commerce Director David Goodman says one of his main efforts is improving business to bring jobs to Ohio. He says this is one of the many ways the Department of Commerce is able to help.
"We're going to be in the forefront of economic development, job development, creating incentives, to get Ohio back on the right track" said Goodman.
Goodman believes that, although there are critics, only good can come from using money in an effort to bring companies toward success. He says JobsOhio is meant to give businesses a step in the right direction, and has one main goal.
"They'll be looking around the state for opportunities to be able to invest in growing companies, to move them forward and get them over the various hurdles of being a start-up " he said.
The Board of Directors for JobsOhio consists of eight board members who are significantly educated about our economy. In addition to revenue for JobsOhio, a half billion dollars from the Department of Commerce Liquor Control was used to help balance that State's budget in the first fiscal year.
