The Ohio State Highway Patrol makes plans for an OVI checkpoint in Muskingum County.
The checkpoint will take place in an area known for OVI activity. Cars will be checked based on a pattern created by troopers.
"During the contact we'll look at the driver for impairment. Glassy eyes, slurred speech, strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, failure to yield to the OVI checkpoint and there may be some traffic violations as they come in," said State Highway Patrol Lt. Steven Rine.
The location of the checkpoint will be announced Friday morning. Lt. Rine said even though drivers know where the checkpoint is it may not stop them from avoiding it.
"Sometimes people get out and if they are under the influence sometimes they have too much to drink and may forget what they read or saw," said Rine.
Any motorists that see a driver that may be impaired should call the sheriff's office or patrol so that action can be taken.
