A local Golf Tournament Teed-Up as part of the World's Largest Contributor of Scholarships for young women this weekend.
The Miss Muskingum Valley Scholarship Program - a preliminary into the Miss American Organization- hosted their 3rd Annual Scholarship Fundraiser Saturday afternoon at the Vista Golf Course in Zanesville. Executive Director Stina McKendry said girls who take part in the program build confidence, social skills and become active members within their community.
"Not only that but most importantly they are rewarded in terms of gaining they get money towards their education," said McKendry.
Last years scholarship awarded upwards of $10,000 to several girls. Current Miss Muskingum Valley and a Top Ten at Miss Ohio, Kylie Johnson is now working towards her Graduate Degree at Ohio University and said the scholarship was a significant part in paying for her education.
"I just did it as a fun experience," said Johnson. "I've gained so much from it and I know I want to keep helping in the future with this too."
13 teams took part in the tournament. All proceeds will benefit future Miss Muskingum Valley Participants.
