There's big news for the Muskingum Valley Red Cross.
Guernsey and Noble counties will now be a part of the local chapter which includes Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan counties. The move comes after many chapters across the country and the state have consolidated due to the economy.
"They have realized that they can pull some smaller counties and put them under the same umbrella and one thing we promise is that their service is not going to change," said Muskingum Valley Red Cross Executive Director Marlene Henderson.
But despite taking on two more counties, Henderson says it will not affect their current budget.
"They have a wonderful United Way over there as we do, and that money that is generated through the Guernsey, Noble United Way will stay in Guernsey and Noble counties," said Henderson.
Guernsey and Noble counties were originally part of the Ohio Hills Chapter of the Red Cross along with Coshocton County. Coshocton County will now team up with Knox County to provide residents their services. The changes took effect August 1st.
