A donation from an area business is helping kids get ready for school.
Coconis Furniture is donating 67 pairs of shoes and $100 to the Wendy's/WHIZ's Lace Up For Kids campaign. For 23 years, the program has helped to collect new shoes for needy children.
"There's 150 kids still in need, so we're doing our part to help out the community and try to get shoes on kids' feet for the first day of school," said Bo Coconis.
Secretary of the Board for Eastside Community Ministry Sally Goins said the program has grown from 300 children to over 1,000. Goins said she's impressed by the community's generosity.
"It is a delight to see the kids come and try the shoes on," said Goins. "It's just a lot of fun to see them, and we know it does them a lot of good."
Shoes can be dropped off at any Zanesville Wendy's or the WHIZ studios. Distribution day is August 23rd at the Zanesville Civic League Community Center.
