At the corner of Zane Street and Underwood Traffic slowed down - but only for a minute.

Zanesville Fire Fighters waved down passing vehicles asking them to help "Fill the Boot." This is the second time in recent weeks the crew has hit the street to raise money and awareness of the disease through the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Two weeks ago they raised more than $6,900. Today, they hope to beat that amount - raising a total of $15,000.

"It's a tough goal," expressed Local 88 MDA Chairperson Gale Law. "In this economy really tough but the folks are coming through for us."

Muscular Dystrophy is what causes weakness and loss of muscle tissue that grows worse overtime. Money raised will go towards helping families purchase wheel chairs and other expenses associated with the disease. Donator Penny Dittmiar was just one of many who slowed down to help the cause.

"Just because we think its a good charity and glad to do it," said Dittmiar.

Law said the International Association of Firefighters has raised more money than any other organization for the MDA and Local 88 has been in the top ten of fundraisers in the state.
