Hope for those half way around the world- the mission that is making strides.
Director of Hope- The Haitian Orphanage that Provides and Educates- Tim Banks is originally from Mansfield, Ohio. Alongside his wife he has lived the past 7 years in Haiti, raising 20 orphaned girls as their own.
"So they can stay in Haiti and help Haiti," explained Banks. "We want to make a change there."
Member of Faith United Methodist Church in Zanesville Mike Schreiber met Banks while on a mission to Haiti. He said the experience opened his eyes to making a difference. On Saturday he organized the first ever "Strides for Hope 5-K."
"It's just a whole other world down there," said Schreiber. "Getting the chance to experience that and see how they live and see the devastation, this was before the earthquake. It just kind of makes you sit back and realize how lucky we are."
Just under 100 runners and walkers took part in the event. All money raised will go towards food, clothing, and education of the H.O.P.E Orphanage.
