Authorities say 38-year-old Richard Klein Jr. And 25-year old Kasey Klein have long been under the microscope of investigators and some members of the public in connection with the drowning death of 3-year-old Ayden Cecil and missing 2-year-old Anthony Tullius presumed drowned.
"After the investigation was brought to me, we reviewed it, and i felt like it was something a grand jury should hear," said Muskingum County Prosecutor Mike Haddox.
Tuesday morning, Muskingum County Sheriff Deputies arrested the couple at their Webster Street home in Sonora after grand jury indictments were issued last Wednesday. Both Kasey and Richard Klein face 2 counts each of involuntary manslaughter and 2 counts each of child endangering.
"If they would be convicted of all 4, the child endangerance would merge with the involuntary manslaughter so if you're asking what's their potential maximum penalty here, it would be 20 years," said Haddox.
Mr. Klein is being held on 200,000 dollars bond. Mrs. Klein is being held on 100,000 dollars bond in the Muskingum County Jail. If convicted on all charges, they each face 20 years in prison. The couple is expected to be arraigned in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Wednesday at 11 am.
