The new Zanesville High School will be opening its doors to the community this weekend for a dedication ceremony.
The Board of Education and Zanesville Alumni Association are teaming up to sponsor the ceremony. Board of Education member Janet Stewart says the entire staff and student body will be involved in this special day.
"It's been a long time coming and we are so excited to be able to show off to the community and to give to the community...our beautiful new high school," said Stewart.
Stewart says students will give tours of the building to the public after the ceremony and classrooms will be setup with smart boards activated. Zanesville Alumni Association member, Wayne Carpenter, says the new high school is already influencing the community.
"I think it is great for the community to have a modern high school, up-to-date, first rate with all of the technology. It's like anything else, when you are around things that are new it inspires you to do greater things. I think the students feel that and definitely the faculty and staff feel that," said Carpenter.
The dedication will take place on October 2nd at 2 o'clock. The Zanesville High School Choir, Orchestra, band and Devilettes will perform ending the dedication at the football field where everyone will sing the alma mater.
