The wet weather isn't stopping people from helping those in need.

Avon's Zanesville distribution center teamed up with Christ's Table to host the Feed the Children event at Secrest Auditorium.  Avon inventory control manager Clifford Hickok said 1,200 boxes of food and Avon personal care products were given out to 400 families in Muskingum County.

"Some people are just really thankful," said Hickok.  "Other people just can't believe that something like this would go on."

Avon donates soap, shampoo and other items to the Feed the Children organization every month.  Hickok said this is the first time the event has come to Zanesville.

"I think what they're getting out of it is we have managers, line workers and everybody together, and it just gives us a real sense of something bigger than us, bigger than work," said Hickok.  "We're able to contribute in a way beyond what we do each day."

Feed the Children is an international organization that strives to provide hope and resources for those without life's essentials.
