The next time that customers step into the South Zanesville Library it'll be through a new entrance.
The South Zanesville Library is closed until after the new year as $170,000 worth of renovations have begun. Among the changes a new entrance, a redesigned children's area and a drive-thru and pick up books. They'll also display books based on popular collection.
"They'll be romance and popular fiction and non fiction more like a bookstore format and then we'll have regular display materials as well," said Assistant Director Blair Tom. "It's a new updated approach that will make it adaptable."
Tom said that until the work is complete library services will be provided at the other locations and materials needed can be delivered to the most convenient location. Staff is also moving.
"We are moving staff to fill gaps and then do some of the work with south locations as they are returned to their main library," said Tom. "We're all busy moving around, making sure our library customers enjoy non interrupted library service.
Tom said they had hoped to do this project two and half years ago but due to funding was reduced the project was put on hold. Hoon Incorporated out of Athens is doing the work.
