If you've ever wanted a celebrity to serve you dinner, next Tuesday is the perfect opportunity.
The Applebee's restaurant in Zanesville is hosting its Celebrity Server event on November 15th. Applebee's General Manager David Jacobs said Senator Troy Balderson, Mayor "Butch" Zwelling and other well-known locals will shadow servers and collect tips for the Angel Tree.
"The Angel Tree is when we take children from the Salvation Army that are underprivileged and we get them presents for Christmas," said Jacobs.
Jacobs said Applebee's created the Angel Tree when the restaurant opened in 2002, and it turned into a tradition once the Salvation Army started providing the names of those in need. Applebee's hostess Schree Huber said the children will open gifts as their families enjoy a special dinner at the restaurant.
"I've been going around and collecting donations from local organizations, friends and family," said Huber. "I've met a lot of people who have given us donations, and we're going to raffle them off. The raffle will start on the day of the Celebrity Server."
Applebee's is also getting ready for an all-you-can-eat breakfast on December 10th. All proceeds will benefit the Angel Tree as well.
