A popular holiday event is moving weekends in order to help more people.
The Jaycee's sponsored C-Day is a way to collect clothing, toys, canned good and other gently used items for the Salvation Army. Taking part is as easy as picking up a phone. Residents with items can call into the WHIZ studios, give their address and the Jaycees will come to your home to collect items.
"The holiday season is all about giving," said Jaycee's member Ben Whitacre. "It's such a good way to give back to the community and support those in need during these economic times."
Usually C-day takes place the first Saturday in December. This year the event will take place earlier in the hopes of collecting even more items for the Salvation Army.
"This has been such a great event for them," said Whitacre. "We get so many items and it helps them so much during this Christmas season. They do their giving away a little earlier and so to help benefit them and benefit the community we decided to move our event."
C-day will begin Saturday Nov. 12 at 8am and run until noon. Those wanting to donate items can call the WHIZ studios at (740) 452-5431. Our radio station, Z92.7 will be playing Christmas music that day to get everyone in the holiday spirit and will broadcast the event.
