A husband and wife- both First Sergeants in the Ohio Army National Guard- were honored Friday in Zanesville.

Richard and Cindy Day of Roseville met nearly 25 years ago while serving in the Military. Richard recently returned home from Iraq and was recognized Friday at The Carr Center.

"I'm not used to really any kind of fan fare or this attention," expressed Day.

Executive Director of The Carr Center John Hajjar expressed the importance of recognizing, not only the U.S. Veterans, but also those who currently serve.

"When you serve you don't really think about being in the spotlight," said Hajjar. "I sometimes think putting a name and face, so you don't read a horrible statistic of how many are killed in action today and how many are killed overall."

Cindy Day was unable to be at the luncheon. Both her and Richard currently work full time with the Ohio National Guard in Columbus.
