Friday is Veterans Day -- a day to honor those who have served in the past and are serving now.

Korean War Veteran Howard Slaughter doesn't like to talk a lot about his time spent in the war, but said today's modern equipment only creates a more dangerous atmosphere for soldiers serving today. He advises them to remain strong.

"Just do what you're suppose to do and you make decisions stick with it" expressed Slaughter. "If you're over there and make a decision stick with, it it might be the wrong one, but if it is, you have to go with it anyway."

World War Two Veteran James West takes pride in recognizing his fellow Veterans, as well as those currently serving. He said today's youth needs to learn and recognize the sacrifices made.

"Most people don't," dais West. "I think most of the older people do but I don't think the younger generations really know what was going on."

These area Veteran's were recognized among others at the Muskingum County Center for Seniors earlier this week.
