Black Friday is less than a week away and already there has been a Santa spotting.

To kick off the holiday shopping season Colony Square Mall in Zanesville invited Santa Clause to take part in their annual parade.

"This is when people start feeling like it's Christmas time, when they see Santa come out," said Marketing and Business Development Director Kevin Pinson. "I was in the parade and I could hear when he came around the corner, you could just hear the excitement in the kids voices as they saw him and the parents too."

The traditional parade began as a way to hail Santa's arrival to the mall. More than 30 units took part in this year's celebration, including Cub Scout Pack 121 of Dresden.

"Bringing in the Christmas spirit is something to get the boys excited, it brings a sense of community being able to be apart of the whole group," said Cub Scout Mom Ellen Murphy.

The mall will open on Black Friday at 6AM, with some stores opening at midnight.
