Thanksgiving- a day of eating- is only two days away.

Dr. Vicki Whitacre of the Muskingum County Health Department has some tips to help you enjoy all your holiday favorites without over doing it.

"Take a small amount of everything you really want to eat, enjoy that, keep it to one plate full, try not to do seconds and give yourself a little time to rest," said Whitacre.

She also suggests you keep a watchful eye on those who have diabetes, high blood pressure or other medical issues.

"Try to plan some things in your menu that they can eat, like have a fruit as your desert rather than just pie, cake and ice-cream," said Whitacre. "Think of things like fresh vegetables rather than getting the ones prepared with all the goops and gravies and things."

Other tips- drink plenty of water before and during the meal, this will help avoid the high calorie drinks and fill-up your stomach. To avoid grazing, step away from the dinning room and enjoy an afternoon walk.
