A Perry County road is shut down for hours Wednesday evening as crews work to clean up a fuel spill.
According to Crooksville Fire Department Chief Ralph Hill, a 55-gallon drum of some type of petroleum product fell out of a vehicle around 8 p.m. The spill started on State Route 93, but the majority of the fuel was found on Watt Hill Road.
The Crooksville and Roseville Fire Departments, Perry County Emergency Management Agency, Ohio Department of Transportation and State Highway Patrol were all on the scene.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency was also contacted, so officials could ensure the spill was cleaned up properly.
"We've got the EPA involved by phone. They're actually involved in another spill at this time in Scioto County, so we've been in contact with them via phone about how they actually want us to go about cleaning this up," says Hill.
Hill says the person who spilled the fuel did not stop, but if they are located charges are possible.
