The monthly First Friday Art Walk in downtown Zanesville is this Friday.
The Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project- Z.A.A.P- will feature Abstract Artist Marie Lakorenos. Lakorenos said her interest in art began in 5th grade, but it wasn't until her own children later grew up that she was able to fulfill her passion.
"When I'm painting, and I'll be painting a while, then a couple hours later I'll look at it and say, wow did do that? I mean where was I when I did that," expressed Lakorenos. "It's just coming out of me and I don't really know where it comes from, it comes from my soul."
Lakorenos hopes those who see her work take the time to reflect on what the pieces means to them.
"When you look at my work you have to look at it for a while because you find different things in it," said Lakorenos. "Everybody finds something different and that's what I want, I want them to see what the message is to them."
The abstract painting will be on display at the Z.A.A.P Art Gallery throughout the month of December, and during this First Friday's Downtown Art Walk from 5 until 7:00.
