A first-time fundraiser is a success for Zanesville middle and high school wrestlers.
Wrestlers and their parents and coaches dished out spaghetti, salad and breadsticks at Zanesville Community High School. Zanesville Wrestling Boosters President Mike Milner said they receive funding for transportation and event registration fees, but other expenses can quickly add up.
"This is a fundraiser so that we can provide equipment for the teams, uniforms, perhaps pay for overnight stays for two day tournaments, maybe send some kids to wrestling camps in the off-season," said Milner.
Milner said his goal is to raise $1,000. The teams pre-sold 175 tickets and people continued to pay at the door.
"Spaghetti dinners are always pretty popular," said Milner. "We just figured a Sunday would be a good opportunity for people leaving church to be able to come out and have a good dinner."
Milner said he hopes the spaghetti dinner will become an annual event for the wrestling teams.
