The holidays are right around the corner, and The Salvation Army in Muskingum County is asking for your help filling Christmas baskets for those in need.

Major Ralph Campbell says The Salvation Army is providing food baskets for over 1200 families this Christmas season. Food items such as mixed vegetables, macaroni & cheese, and canned pasta are just a few of the items still needed. Campbell says donations from organizations, like the Ohio National Guard, are vital.

"They help us every year. They are good bunch of people. We can't do it without them. Also, they help us get the food from schools to here, so they are a good source for us," said Campbell.

Campbell says the Salvation Army has helped families in need since 1884, and in order to continue helping people they can use all the help they can get from the community.

"We have a good record of helping people in this community and we can only do it with them. My term for the community is really they are the army behind the army," said Campbell.

Applebee's will be holding a pancake breakfast on December 10th from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. All proceeds go to The Salvation Army Angel Tree.
