Children from area schools enjoyed a break from their daily routine on Wednesday.
The Knights of Columbus Hall hosted the Kiwanis Club of Zanesville's Christmas party. Youth Services Committee Chair Amy Pinson said the kids ate lunch, sang songs and received gifts from Santa.
"It's really just a special party," said Pinson. "We have almost a one-to-one ratio of students to an adult or key club member here, so they get a lot of individual attention."
Pinson said the schools chose 60 children who were in need of some holiday cheer. Four high school key clubs assisted Kiwanis members with the festivities.
"I think the kids get a kick out of it," said West Muskingum High School student Megan Thomas. "It's great to see their faces light up when Rudolph and the snowman walk out. It's just awesome to see that reaction."
Money raised from the annual peanut sale and corporate pinewood derby help defer the cost of the party.
