Christmas is delivered for nearly 1,000 families on Friday afternoon.

The Salvation Army of Muskingum, Morgan and Perry Counties distributed toys, clothing and meals to families in need.

"It's a good feeling for us because we know we're helping the community," said Major Ralph Campbell. '"Sometimes we get to see the child go through with mom and dad and say "Oh, look at that," and "Oh I want that."

Volunteer Chris Beach has been taking part in the distribution for several years. She said it's not only about gifts for the children but a peace of mind for the parents as well.

"They don't have to worry about where their next meal is coming from for a couple days, they got it," expressed Beach. "So when the kids get up they can fix them a nice meal, the kids have something and they love it."

The Salvation Army began accepting applications for the distribution in October. Major Ralph Campbell said the number of those in need is up compared to years past.
