AAA has found a creative way to remind drivers to stay safe on the road this holiday season.
The event was called 'First a Friend, then a Host', which featured a friendly competition among AAA workers. They made 'mocktails', which are non-alcoholic cocktails, in order to promote sober driving. Customers were able to sample and vote for the drinks, and a book full of alcohol-free beverages is going to be published.
"The recipe book is going to be free, you can come in and pick up the recipe book, and the associate with the highest votes, they're name will be published in the book." explained AAA Sales Manager, Rhoda Collins. "You can come and pick those out, and the recipes will be in there for the non alcoholic drinks that you can share with your family during the holidays."
Collins says the goal is to help curb drunk driving. She says December has more alcohol-related crashes than any other month.
"Don't drink and drive, never get behind the wheel if you're drinking, and first of all you should be a true friend. If your friends and family members are drinking please don't allow them to drive." said Collins.
Collins suggests that anyone hosting a holiday party take responsibility for guests, and serve non-alcoholic beverages for designated drivers and those who chose not to drink.
